Young African American males have the highest number of HIV infections in Charlotte. There were 4,380 cases of people living with HIV in 2013 in Charlotte and the greater Mecklenburg County. There was a 64.5% rise in the number of reported primary and secondary syphilis cases from 107 in 2013 to 176 in 2014.
